2: A WARNING

A LITTLE WARNING BEFORE YOU PROCEED THIS GAME (AND README FOR THAT
MATTER) CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE AND SOME SUGGESTIVE THEMES SO IF YOU'RE
A PARENT IT SHOULD BE AT YOUR DISCRETION AS TO WEITHER OR NOT YOUR KIDS
PLAY IT. BUT IF THEY DO AND THEY GROW UP MENTAL DON'T COME LOOKING FOR
ME COS' ALL I'LL SAY IS I WARNED YOU. AND IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED
FUCK OFF!
___________________________________________________________________________

3: Some preliminary bullshit!

Here's what I originally wrote (with a few Miner changes):

First off I'd like to say JSW has to be my all time childhood
favourite. At the time nobody could ask for a better game (well they
could but all they got was Technician Ted, Henry's Hoard and Odd Job
Eddie). Anyway I first played this when I was about 4 or 5 years old at
my cousins friends house and then I forgot about it for a month or 2,
until my neighbour revealed his copy of JSW 2 to me which was
mindblowing at the time. After harrassing my Mother and Grandma (Dad
didn't stick around) for about 2 months solid I finally got that golden
ZX Spectrum. Unfortunately I was unable to get Either JSW games as they
had all sold out, I couldn't even get Manic Miner. It seemed like years
until I got these games but it was probably only a few weeks.

UPDATE 2006:
(I actually thought about this after reading it and now I remember it
wasn't until late 88' that I got JSW cos' My copy of JSW 1 was the one
on they sold a Million. As for MM and JSW 2 I actually got them before
JSW 1 in 87' I think, it was the Software Projects double pack for
5.99 It was just the inlay cards from both games stuffed into a double
cassette box and the protection code from JSW2 was removed but you
still got the code sheet in the inlay. Now that I think every time I
played MM, JSW, JSW 2 before then they were borrowed and most people
were very twitchy about loaning out their copy of it. Just shows you
how popular it really was. Once I got my JSW games I wouldn't loan
them out either. Which leaves me thinking where the fuck did they go?)

BACK TO 2002.....haha!
I remember every frustrating second of having to load it in again when
you typed the code wrong twice at the start. I remember dying over and
over on the "forgotten abbey" I remember how pissed off I was the first
time I fell down "The entrance to hades" I remember it all like it was
yesterday. I also remember all the grief I used to get off the twats
who owned C64s mmmm my Jet Set Willy's bigger than yours and mmmm mines
got more colours (But what about those stairs eh). well I don't care I
never said I disliked the C64 versions anyway, but even If I'd known
about all the extras the C64 versions (supposedly) had I still would
have got a spectrum BECAUSE THEY WERE BETTER!!! So there.

And here's what I'm writing now:

It's 25/11/05 and I've finally decided to make a JSW64 SE of this game
so here goes, I'm gonna aesthetically alter the original rooms all of
which I will have to draw from scratch, but it shouldn't take me too
long. I can finally finish the rooms I couldn't properly, and I'm going
to try and stay true to my word which was a post on the JSW yahoo group
that I'd have the SE of this game out for christmas 2005. So that is
now my mission. Which I failed miserably.

4: Story

Willy has once again planned a MASSIVE blow out. All was going well in
the few weeks leading up to the party and willy was happy once again.
The house was spotless so that fat bitch Maria couldn't whinge about
anything "This is going to be the best one yet" thought willy proudly
as he unloaded the 35th crate of lager from his truck. once again the
wine cellar was stuffed to bursting with....well...wine and a shit load
of other alchoholic goodies. The Invitations were next as Willy filled
in the 200th invitation Maria entered the room with a vacuum cleaner
saw the huge pile of invitations and frantically started flapping the
hose at Willy. "If you have another one of your little get togethers
I'm leaving, you can find another mug to clean up after you" Willy
noticing her obvious discomfort reasured that this time it was invite
only and not too many would turn up. Maria left and Willy shrugging his
guilt off (by drinking a large stiff gin) filled in the last 50
invites. Time passed peacefully and at a comfortable pace until the big
night arrived, followed by the first few guests. The first few were a
couple of fat toffs from a big house further up the hill from willy's
and even after Willy went to the trouble of supplying as much booze as
possible the cheeky sods still brought their own. Next came Hairy bob a
sheet metal worker who was friends with willy before he made his
fortune. Hairy bob had brought his equally hairy wife and his stunning
18 year old daughter Roberta (Whom Willy was convinced was adopted). An
hour passed and so many people had turned up Willy lost count but he
didn't care as the booze was starting to take effect. Then there was a
knock at the door 2 hippy looking student chicks who were totally rat
arsed drunk were standing on the path. "Hi Mr Willy" they shouted".
"Invitations" replied Willy. "Argh come on we're friends with Roberta
you know Hairy Bobs daughter". This was good enough for Willy and the
first gatecrashers entered (anyway they were young fit student birds).
Willy kept an eye on them for a while then thought "AGH! Bollocks they
seem OK", and walked away into the party. The 2 girls hung around the
front door and waited for the 3 quiet knocks which could only just be
heard from where they were standing. Willy had NO CHANCE! The door was
opened and in stepped the DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! Following the drunken
master were a bunch of odd individuals varying greatly in size and
style (they literally looked like a bunch of people who would ignore
each other if they'd never met). A Large man stepped in and placed a
roll of lino and a fuckin' HUGE boombox on the deck unrolled the lino
and the fun began. More and more rowdy breakers and students and
hippies and wiggers and wannabe gangstaz turned up and within half an
hour the house was looking a bit worse for wear. Willy frantically
walked around saying things like "try not to spill that" and "No you've
got gear burns on the chair". A large manky looking krusty demanded
that Willy chilled and handed him the biggest spliff he'd ever seen.
Well If you can't beat them....thought Willy and went with the flow.

Willy woke suddenly. The pain in his arse was unbelievable where the
hell am I he thought. and waking up and standing to his feet he jumped
up and doubled over his arse was on fire could he really have ordered
37 keema vindaloos from Abduls and had them delivered to his party. Did
he really see the drunken master putting more concentrated curry paste
into his vindaloo and what else got delivered at his expense. OH! MY
GOD! Shouted Willy and desparately tryed to scramble over the
unconscious party goers, pizza boxes, curry cartons and not to mention
tab ends, roaches and empty liquor containers. Willy's scramble
was painful and almost in vain but at last he reached the bathroom. He
ran to the toilet let out a sigh followed by a scream, the pain and
smell were to much for his sleepy semi drunk doped up head to take. He
passed out. Waking with a start he looked at his watch Oh no! It's 7am
Maria's been home for half an hour. Dreading what would happen when
she saw him he eased himself from the toilet...........................
The Journey through the house begins once again! Can you help Willy
find all the crap lying around after the DrUnKeN mAsTeR!! and his
weirdo bunch of hooligans trashed the party and the house for that
matter.

Fuck me I didn't mean to write an epic but it looks I did..............
SORRY! for those who like it short and sweet and ENJOY! for those who
like a story. Also even though I named the man responsible after myself
don't go thinking I'm a complete idiot. I'll admit I can be a dick when
I'm drunk but I'm nowhere near as bad as this.
______________________________________________________________________________

5: Basic instructions

Nearly the worlds population knows how to play this but for those
unlucky to have missed out I'll tell you THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL GAME
but the gameplay remains the same all you have to do is guide willy
through the house collecting the flashing objects (these always seem to
represent debris from willy's parties). It sounds easy just try
you'll be surprised how tricky these games are.

You will be playing this through an emulator (unless you're Dr Broad
and you've typed into a speccy) and if yours supports a
stick/pad you can use that otherwise.

Use O-Left, P-right, SPACE-Jump although you can use a combination of
keys from the top row of letters. you can also use the bottom row of
letters to jump.
A-G pauses H-ENTER/RETURN unpauses and toggles music ON/OFF

UPDATE 2005: I left this here although I don't think I put this
section in my readmes these days.
____________________________________________________________________________

6: Some patter about the rooms.
WARNING THIS MAY SPOIL ANY SURPRISES OR THE GAMEPLAY ITSELF

As this is the long awaited Special edition of this game I promised I'd
make one day I will be super pleased if I can achieve my goal of
finishing this for Christmas 2005, I have less than a month. But I'm up
for the challenge, I can easily put my 2 main projects of the moment on
hold for a week or so, so it's no real hassle. If this game reaches the
JSW community by the time limits bounds I will be happy indeed. I've
just gone through the rooms list changing them in the same order as
the original readme. I didn't make the deadline but I intend to have it
out before the end of january 06.

1: It Started with a CURRY!!!

Once again you start in "The Bathroom", although I changed this to "It
started with a curry" there's only subtle changes like I replaced the
stairs with platforms and made it possible to enter above the East wall
base from the right. The story behind this is some evil bastard at the
party kicked a hole in the wall behind the bog. I also placed Willy
near the toilet instead of in the bath to give the just woke up effect
from the story.
UPDATE 2005: No changes made to this room at all, however I am using
my 48K SE file so I can't compare sprite changes but I'm sure the
bollocks sprite having smiley faces was not in the original. 16/12/05
I checked the original 48k version and the water tiles and the
bollocks sprite have been changed along with the bath.

2: Did you take the maverick route

This is just " Above East wall base" With some subtle changes I changed
the floor into simpler looking platforms and added a load of them all
over the outside with an item on it. The story behind this one is that
some sick joker threw Maria's Vibrator off the roof and that's where it
landed and as foul as it seems willy has to get it back before she
notices.
UPDATE 2005: Changed the outer water block to bright. The inner water
blocks are the same as they were in the original JSW.
UPDATE 2006: added a moon sprite

3: The priest Jumped off the roof

This is just "Priests' hole" changed about a bit I added platforms
outside and an item which I think and hope inexperienced players will
have a bit of bother getting to I also added an item parallel to the
original and normally only item in the room. The story behind this is
Willy's chaplain couldn't handle the stress of all the debauchery and
sinning going on at the party and prompty topped himself.
This room also gets me out of a spot because I changed all the priests
to a man doing the moonwalk.
UPDATE 2005: No changes 27/11/05. I changed the big skull to bright
white 28/11/05. Also the priest sprite is now present as a sprite in
the table.
UPDATE 2006: added a moon sprite

4: I wish I'd had chips instead

This was "Top landing" but I changed it to this it's meant to be a tie
in style reference to the first room and I also swapped a few platforms
around. But that is all that's different.
UPDATE 2005: No changes yet 27/11/05 which applies to the original
version the abandoned 48K:SE had a different colour scheme.
Which is the one this version goes with.

5: Mastur Bation

Usually called "Master Bedroom" I only wanted to change the name of
this room because I like it and I think this name is quite comical
Don't say you never jumped up and down in front of Maria laughing at
her wrist action when you were younger. If your new jump up and down
in this room and watch the fat womans had go up and down up and down
up and down.........................................Repeat until bored!
UPDATE 2005: No changes yet 27/11/05 which applies to the original
version the abandoned 48K:SE had a different colour scheme. Which is
the one being used in this version.

6: They smashed the stairs

This was originally "First Landing". I had at first changed this room
to "Look at gay Brian" but I thought this a touch unfair and offensive
so I changed it. This is another room where I've removed the stairs and
replaced them with randomly placed blocks, and I inverted the cross on
the wall. Note if you drop down into here and want to go back make sure
you jump straight back to where you came from cos' once you're at the
bottom there's no going back (well not that way anyhow).
UPDATE 2005: No changes apart from the moonwalker is set to bright, and
I think I sorted the no jumping up thing out before I even released the
original?
UPDATE 2006: Graphical overhaul concerning blocks, no changes to the
layout.

7: The slightly easier Nightmare

This was originally the "Nightmare room" it was a constant battle
between this and "Forgotten abbey" to be the hardest room in the game.
I made one slight change to this room for pure revenge purposes (IN YA
FACE MATTHEW SMITH). All it is, is a platform under the the one bearing
the item so you can simply walk into the room jump up and collect it
rather than having to jump around on the platforms. I also sealed it
off from "The Banyan Tree" because I wanted the screen. In it's
original form this room can reduce a grown man to tears a lady to
homicide and a child to depression and random fits of violence.
UPDATE 2005: No changes, and even though I no longer need the screen
for the Banyan tree I'm not putting it back, cos' I don't like it.

8: The crabs fucked my sandcastle

This is just a messy variation of the beach no really amazing changes
at all, and no real meaning. But now for the special edition you can't
go left anymore, partially because I hate the boat screens and also,
because I need at least one new screen. So the boat screen goes simple
as that.
UPDATE 2005: I've changed the static crab nasties to red, the grain in
the sand to black, and added 2 of my crab guards from "Maria on Tour".
I also removed the 3 random blocks sticking out of the sand, the room
is pretty difficult now

9: PHEW! They filled that hole in!

This is just "The security guard" with a title change a platfrom added
so you can now drop through the stairs, and no hole beneath the stairs
and in front of the lower left exit. Players in the know will cotton onto
what I mean by the title almost instantly. But for those who are
furrowing their brows as they read this There used to be a room under
here called the "Entrance to Hades" and if you dropped into it you
lost all your lives.
UPDATE 2005: Same as above I just changed the lower added platform to
a crumbler for effect.
UPDATE 2006: Graphically enhanced the ramp, and changed water to bright
blue. I added more crumblers so you can actually climb up from the
ground, just out of interest did anybody really manage to finish JSW:
TDm without "WRITETYPER" I just noticed today (11/01/06) that there's
no way back up into the house once you're down here? So unless
somebody found a very clever way or a quirky feature that let you get
back, the game was impossible. Added a moon sprite.

10: -This tree................(changed the title here)

This was originally "At the foot of the Megatree" All I've done here
is changed the title and cut off access to the 5 screens above cos' I
needed them. The basis of this title is supposed to work like the three
room title from JSW 2 which was obviously 3 rooms one called
INCREDIBLE- the second called -BIG HOLE- and the final -IN THE GROUND.
I know this seems patronising to someone in the know but someone may
be a newby new kids are born everyday, so for all you know there could
be millions of youngsters who've never played (or just aren't
interested).
UPDATE 2005: No changes
UPDATE 2006: Changed the earth blocks colour.

11: ....Doesn't look so mega to me-(and here!, but only the way it
looks)

Yep you guessed it this is the second and final part for now although
I'm tempted to move the bridge along one so I can make it a 3 parter.
This room has nothing changed.
UPDATE 2006: Added extra earth block to the edges of the branches just
for effect. Added a moon sprite.

12: There's a plane in my ceiling

This was "Under the roof" But I sealed it off from below and removed
the conveyer. The reason for this is I needed more screens so I
removed "A bit of tree from below this screen" because I don't really
care if that stays or not But I had to keep this room for the sake of
getting to "The Attic".
UPDATE 2005: No changes apart from the Ice cream guard that was changed
to the ham is untouched now, as there's no need to change it. No
guardian tables as such means no shared guards so no ham sprite in
this room, which is good as I never really wanted it there in the first
place. The plane tip is also one colour now.

13: The Attic Remix, REMIXED!

Just The Attic really blocked off to the right and a couple of items
added I liked this room so much when I was younger I had to keep it in
some way.
UPDATE 2005: This room now looks almost like I really imagined it,
it's pretty much the same apart from the right hand platforms are
slightly lowered to incorperate the second caterpillar, Also the room
title itself has changed but only with the addition of the word
REMIXED!

14: They even pissed in the pool

This was "The Swimming Pool" I Needed to block this from the banyan
tree so I built a really crap looking diving board out of the same
stuff as the floor, and I made the pool a blue and yellow paradise
(lethal of course). I also swapped the side the item is usually on so
you have to swing over, or would if I'd remembererd to fix the bug
anyway. Fixed the bug now!
UPDATE 2005: the room is exactly the same now as it was but it just
looks nicer. The diving board is made from a variety of earth blocks
whereas' the board itself is air so you can't jump onto it. The pool
is layered with fire blocks on the bottom and animated weewee on top
as adversed to the unpredictable fire blocks that were in the original.
All in all a better looking and slightly more digestable room.

15: More like just a LOONY bastard

All that's different here is the title I intend to give this room a
facelift in the future. It was originally "Nomen Luni".
update: I never did give this room a facelift and I don't think I will
now.
UPDATE 2005: Changed the earth block to one colour added an item
in the bottom right corner, lets call it the planes black box recorder.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.

16: Pleased as Punch e

This used to be "Up on the battlements" but since all the rooms on the
roof are quite similar I thought I'd make a joke of it. The title
pleased as Punch e Is loosely based on a game that came free with the
first batches of 128+2 (the spectrum with built in tape recorder for
those who know not). The game was Punchy a crap sort of half standard
hunchback rip-off which although rubbish was a change from the original
JSW at the time (for about 20 minutes).
UPDATE 2005: The shell of the room remains the same, however the room
is now more like I wanted it to be. There's colour changes and 3
static ropes, the floor is now entirely spikes (fire).
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.

17: I must perform a quick labotomy

Just a title change again but will be different in the future. Was "We
must perform a quirkafleeg" which no doubt had many nerds instantly
scrambling for the dictionary. But I know what one is cos' I used to
read The Freak Brothers.
UPDATE 2005: Colour changes and slight aesthetic tweaks. Fixed the
typo in the room name.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.

18: I used to see the shop from here

I called this screen this because it was originally "The watch tower"
and if you jumped off the conveyer through the top of the screen you'd
end up at "The off license". But I've sealed the top of the screen off
so you can't jump off through the top. Hence the title.
UPDATE 2005: Colour changes.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

19: NAH! You still can't shag here!

This room has no significant changes again apart from the title and I
blocked "On top of the house" off as I used it for a different room and
I don't intend to change it any more than this either specifically so
players who know about Matts original plan with this room know exactly
what I mean. This room was "Rescue Esmerelda" and I was going to call
it NAH! you still can't shag her but I hit the E-Key by accident I
thought this typo was actually better and not as blunt as my first
intended so I kept it.
UPDATE 2005: No changes.

20: Generator down!

Was "emergency generator" but I've wanted to change that room for years
so instead of a pig you have a bird 2 items to collect and you can
leave via th top of the screen. I shouldn't need to explain the meaning
of this screen as it's obvious when you get there. I also blocked it
off to left cos' I wanted the "Dr Jones will never believe this"
screen for something else.
UPDATE 2005: Tidied up the pillars, added fire blocks all the way up
the left wall, added 2 guards between the left hand fire blocks (which
incidentally I could've added in the original oh well). Added a ramp
near the top exit.

21: What! No Bellz?

This was my first attempt at a hard room I sacrificed "On top of the
house for this screen as I always thought it was a pretty pointless
screen. As this is above "NAH! you still can't shag here" which was
originally "Rescue Esmerelda" I made a joke with the title as in JSW 2
there was a room called "The Belfrey" of course it was never on the
first game and if you jumped off the top you'd end up in the
"Ballroom East"
UPDATE 2005: The statement about my laughable sprites no longer
stands so I removed it from above here. I brightened the air, water
and fire blocks and also the guards. I've changed Willys sprite to
light blue.

22: Alreet' Skull?

I ditched "Entrance to Hades" for this screen and put it above my
"What! no bellz?" screen. I had already changed this screen once but my
first attempt was rubbish really. It was called "Self Explanitary" and
all I'd done to it was remove the word DIE from the screen and change
the title. The original plan was just to have the word MORTAL on the
screen and the different title. The word refered to a state of
drunkeness. The plan behind the new title is based on a comedy saying
from where I live.
UPDATE 2005: Changed the vertical Bug-Byte head to 4 frames of
animation, and it moves further than it did. The fire block has bright
turned off.

23: I never knew this was here

The title refers to the large turret which appears to have just
appeared on top of willys house. I used "Tree root" for this screen.
Apart from the guardian it's pretty much scratch built.
UPDATE 2005: No changes except the egg moves a little further to
the left.

24: The previous owners porn stash

The title says it all. I used "Under the drive for this" and it's to
the left of "I never knew this was here". So in effect I did away with
2 rooms I don't like and turned them into these travesties.
UPDATE 2005: No changes except the stairs are a little tidier.

25: Right hand side of the turret

This is completely new. No rooms used or replaced New floor, guardian
and wall. The room is exactly what the title says it is. I kept it
simple cos' it's leading you somewhere ridiculous.
UPDATE 2005: The moonwalker moves a little further, in both directions.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

26: Just where is this taking me to?

Scratch built and not very well at that just a room to pad things out
a bit.
UPDATE 2005: Tidied up slightly with a few more earth blocks, slightly
rearranged.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

27: Take it to the bridge

I can't remember which screen I ditched for this now but I know this is
one of my fave custom screens. It's almost completely harmless though,
and I just put it here to pad out the journey towards well that would
be tellin'.
UPDATE 2005: Lengthened the 2 poles closest to the flags, and turned
the rightmost flag to face the opposite direction. The skull and the
flags now move from top to bottom at +04 instead of 2. The water and
fire blocks are now both air and have been tidied slightly. I hope
these changes don't ruin the room as it seems to have recieved some
praise in the past.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

28: I see something up ahead

This is just "The Banyan Tree" with an overhaul all the guardians
apart from the devil gone. Then another 3 devils added, and the fact it
no longer represents a tree at all.
UPDATE 2005: No changes.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

29: EGGIE CHUCK!

The screen that love built is what I would have called this if I didn't
hurt my back from sitting in a computer chair and my fingers mapping
out the crap ostrich type bird thing on there, which although crap is
probably my best sprite. I based this room on Chuckie Egg (Doh!) and
the title is based on the psuedo retro piss take in Lazy Jones' Eggie
chuck which at the time wasn't retro at all as Lazy Jones is from the
same era of games as JSW (and Chuckie egg the game in question).
UPDATE 2005: The rooms graphics remain the same, but the big birds
sprite is changed slightly (from the original version). I also say the
thing about the bird being my best sprite is somewhat out of date.

30: Startin' to get rickety again

This is referring to the floor which is all broken up I don't know why
I put all the cooks on this screen it just seemed like a good idea at
the time.
UPDATE 2005: Added 2 more cooks, which was the original plan but the
8 available sprite slots weren't enough in the original.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

31: An entrance to a second turret?

An unimaginitive title for an equally unimaginitive screen. oh well at
least you know where you were heading now.
UPDATE 2005: Less holes more fire blocks tidier stairs, still crap :)

32: This place doesn't look too safe

This is a reference to the tumble down appearance of this odd tower
which is somehow linked to willy's house and the first room to one of
the nastiest willy related goose chases ever. I'm happy because I made
it and it skins "The entrance to hades" and "Dinking vater" for being
screens of no return. I also noticed that when I was checking this that
you can get the items but you can't actually get back down. So in
effect an unfixed bug from the original version (I never knew, or I
would've fixed it) has became a sacrificial room by pure fluke, and
since I'm feeling cruel it's stayin' that way (better have at least 2
lives left when you get here hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha).
UPDATE 2005: 2 more feet, 4 more platforms, and tidier stairs. This
room no longer requires martydom to complete, although I think it
didn't anyway as I think the room auto collected? Not 100% though.

33: Don't fall (or jump) off here

Do like it says or throw yourself off and see what happens. I'll wait
til the end to put the shady bit so you can avoid reading it.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite

34: You haven't seen the last of me!

This is a room within the turret which and large caterpillar has turned
into it's lair. The title refers to the caterpillar itself as in the
original it only appeared in the attic.
UPDATE 2006: Slight graphical tweaks, with extra blocks. The
caterpillar is now bright green, but no actual changes to the room
layout.

35: So you risked your life for this

I managed and needed to salvage this room because I had a really evil
idea when I thought of the whole turret thing so here it is.
I couldn't iron the bug out of this room I tried swapping all the
attributes and the border colour and alsorts willy just turns into a
big white square. but it still plays. I got it sorted No bugs in this
room.
UPDATE 2006: What was I thinking when I wrote that, I must've been
pretty clueless at the time. Feels so long ago though I can't
remember, anyway I made no changes to this room. Apart from adding a
moon sprite.

36: Down, down, and down

The next three rooms I made follow on to each other as you plummet to
your death through them They start of with "Down, down, and down".
UPDATE 2006: no changes, except to this part of the readme.
The room was blank anyway.

37:Into a room full of down

then "Into a room full of down" I got this from an old type in
adventure called red door and unlike in the adventure this isn't
humerous at all.
UPDATE 2006: Same as above

38: Don't worry it'll be over soon

The final room in this 3 part equation is "Don't worry it'll be over
soon" which actually has no reference to what I just said but I made it
the final part of this 3 parter just to be nasty so there.
UPDATE 2006: Slight graphical improvements the bones on top of the
skulls don't look like flashing loaves of bread anymore in fact I
changed them completely. I'm glad I came back to this game because I
realised even with the original there was no need for the flashing
bones. I've added a different skull as well as the original and I've
slightly tidied the ribcages.

39: Grab as Much as you can and run!

This was the "Off License" I changed the title to the above to
represent the popular act of off-licence theft usually by those who
aren't legally old enough to buy drink. I was gonna call it "Kamakaze"
but not everyone knows what kamakaze theivin' is, and it's quite a bit
to explain too and most people will probably never read this. But the
title of the room is a slimmed down version of kamakaze theivin'.
UPDATE 2006: No changes so far apart from a nasty trick I couldn't put
in the original (without hacking).

40: They built this wall for you man

I completely sacrificed "The bow" for this and changed it's location to
behind the off license partially because I didn't like "the bow" and
because I used to always want to go behind "The off license" obviously
in the original this wasn't possible. I added the "man" to the end to
make it sound like a cheesy eco-warrior was having a go at you for
building the wall. I was going to put a small yellow room above here
and call it inside the crane as I was originally going to call this
room "The construction site" but I changed my mind. Apart from the
guardian this is a completely custom screen.
UPDATE 2006: The same except I moved the far right water block up a
level or 2, I also changed the graphics for the platforms. I added a
pole for the flag to go up and down on, but it still goes down the
wall. Added a moon sprite.

41: The Oubliette

I'm not sure if someone else has made a screen called this before if
so sorry. I was going to call this "I built this screen from scratch"
but it sounded crap and I don't know if it would fit anyway. Everything
here apart from the guardian is new, and it's supposed to be one of
those screens which looks really hard but is in fact really easy.
The story behind this is the construction workers uncovered an old
Oubliette under the construction site above but were too scared to
investigate whereas Willy laughs in the face of danger. I used the
spare screen 47 to make this room. I also used the left over screen 61
to make a Room called so you risked your life for this but it was
really buggy so I scrapped it this room used the skull nasty design as
an item and was located to the right of the east wall base.
UPDATE 2006: From a technical point of view the rooms no longer match
the original game number wise. Other than that I added 1 more type of
skull, but the room remains the same layout wise.

42: The gits never clean the fridge

This was the "cold store" I added another lower platfrom parallel to
the original. I changed the nasty to an odd shaped blobby thing (which
was meant to be a frozen pie) and I changed the Ice cream guardian into
a bouncy ham. The story here is what the title suggests I was gonna
call it the cooks never clean the fridge but I wasn't sure if I was
going to keep the cooks at all.
UPDATE 2006: The hams no longer exist because they were shite, and
I've added an extra earth block to make a new floor in the hope it
will make the platforms stand out a little better.

43: There used to be a door here?

This is just the backdoor with a slight overhaul I always thought there
should have been at least 1 nasty or guardian in the room so I added
both and here it is I made it slightly more taxing and added an item so
going through the bottom entrance is no longer pointless. The nasties
are supposed to be bits of splintered wood although I'm not too sure
about it myself. The party goers booted Willys back door down simple as
that.
UPDATE 2006: I removed a few of the floating fire blocks since they
just looked untidy, and flipped the fire block above the door. Added
an extra water block on the left of the hole in the floor just for
effect, and changed the colour of the stairs.

*44: Who said they couldn't hurt you?

This is a different (but only slightly) version of "They can't hurt you
now". The saw and the penknife are still under the floor, but the bolt
cutters move further left and right and at high speed, the nail is
still in the ceiling to potentially make jumping over the bolt cutters
a little awkward. there is now an item in here for you to collect so
you have to jump over the bolt cutters no matter which way you enter
the room.

45: They didn't even touch the wine!

Just "The wine cellar" with moonwalkers instead of priests and a few
extra items
UPDATE 2006: Changed the name from "They never even touched the wine".
I also added 6 barrels behind the 6 tunnels just for an slight
aesthetic improvement.

46: Party finished yesterday LEAVE!!

Was "Forgotten abbey" one of the original games more frustrating rooms,
now with moonwalkers instead of priests I removed one of the sprites
from the bottom row as well so it shouldn't be as nasty I changed the
item to a clock. The story behind this is just a pop at those annoying
twats who won't leave even after you've yawned rubbed your eyes and
dropped a billion hints, and still don't go away.
UPDATE 2006: Added 2 bright light blue water blocks for the platforms
and left the original green water block as the entrance cover. I've
also changed the colour of the the earth and fire blocks.

47: The cooks are revolting

Although graphically the same as "The Kitchen" in the 48K version
the layout is almost completely different. However I never mentioned
this room as a new room with the original version. I have changed the
graphic for the water block, and added an extra block for the ramp
just to tidy it slightly. However the Guards remain graphically the
same and their paths have not changed since JSW 1. But I have changed
them all to bright yellow.

48: Because Willy bought a microwave

Take exactly what I just said about the above Kitchen variant, and
apply it to this room.

49: East wall base

I wouldn't have included this room here had I not changed it since the
48K versions, the room itself remains the same in shape technically,
but the aesthetic modifications are heavy for it to be classed as
original or slightly modified. The left guard from the 48K versions is
replaced by the guard that would be there in JSW 1. Also the water
blocks closest to the walls now both face outwards, the water blocks
up the central climb are modified again so that they do not lean in a
particular direction. The original earth blocks for the walls have now
been changed to green bricks, and I also constructed an outer platform
from 2 earth blocks so I could add an item to the room. So gone are the
days when you don't even have to come here.
UPDATE: Added a moon sprite.

50: West wing roof

I was originally going to put this room in the slightly modified rooms
and pretty much leave it as it was in the 48K versions, but with a few
tweaks. However I changed it enough to be a new room in my opinion.
The earth blocks on the left of the screen have been changed to 2
earth blocks and chequered, I wanted to do this with the original room
but would have had to use fire for the effect. I then realised I could
of because although I left the fire blocks upstairs there were no items
to collect so it was pointless going there (DOH!!!). I also chequered
the water block, with 2 different sized blocks in 2 shades of purple.
Using these blocks I've added an extra couple of platforms upstairs.
I've changed the bird guard to bright yellow, the saw to bright red
and the arrow to green. The tunnel in the wall has been plugged up too,
to make the fact there's an arrow coming through there an little less
obvious. I've added 2 normal items upstairs, but technically it's 19
because the topmost item has 17 buried in it (it was only supposed to
be 15 but I miscounted, I'm going to leave it anyway).

51: The Nest

This is the first screen of a new falling IDS, which comes under
"Don't fall (or jump) off here". The rooms under there were always
meant to be a falling IDS, but having designed the original versions
final screen and the IDS that followed it before putting "Don't fall
(or jump) off here" into the game I was screwed for screens so I had
to shamelessly re-use it. However this is kind of the original plan,
but graphically (even though it never existed in the first place) is
much improved over the original design.

52: The Nest

The concluding part of the above screen. Looking at this screen you
can see that I have tied it in with the screen "You haven't seen the
last of me". Also even though this is a falling IDS and you'll only
ever visit it once (or not at all unless you're curious) I took quite
a while to build the room. The original plan would've required more
graphics and guards than Version V can handle. But this is as close as
I can get I suppose, and since it's just an IDS there's no real need
to panic.

53: Deep in the parasitic sky castle

The first of the rooms I wanted to put after the so called last room
of the original version. It's basically "so you risked your life for
this" horizontally flipped and altered with blocks to make it look a
little nicer. I added crawling grubs to kill you but they're easy
enough to avoid.

54: Silky but sticky

This room although not amazing took about 7 hours to make, not because
of the layout as it's a pretty straightforward left to right affair.
But the guards I had to fuck around with the mono skylab patch vector
for about 4 hours til' I got it working properly. I only got it
working properly because I fiddled with the bytes by myself. I was
gonna fold and ask John Elliot for a solution but I decided no I'll
work it out if it kills me. So this room has a patch vector present
woohoo my first patch in JSW 64, and unlike my 48K ventures it didn't
wreck my game. Now all I have to do is write a patch from scratch and
I can claim some kudos for it woohoo.

55: The last of me!

A 4 year old idea, made in about 4 hours. Although it was probably
longer it took a me a few sittings but I split them into smallish
times. I always wanted to conclude the room "You haven't seen the last
of me" and I think back in 2002 I had an idea similar to this,
however I could never have done it without some hacking. Hacking for a
larger amount of rooms, blocks, and diagonal guards. Incidentally I
could have made the moth on the original but without any of the hacking
it would've had to go either horizontal or vertical, which would have
looked dumb in my opinion. Vertical maybe horizontal no, I may have
also needed a larger guardian table since I kept the majority of the
original sprites. This however for me has turned out to be one of those
special room for the game only type screens. The ones you start and
even though it's taxing you sit and work and work and work, and if you
haven't finished it and you don't have any more time to you spend
every minute away from your computer thinking about finishing it.
Anyway the lumps on the floor are harmless, they're supposed to be
cacooned people and I made them out of switches due to the lack of
blocks left. I have some blocks left but I've used most variations of
white so I used switches instead.

56: Castle me this! Castle me that!

A linker but I made it in the mould of traditional JSW. I actually
made a linker that wasn't just that, You actually have to get items
this time. It looks quite nice but not so nice that I'm trippin' my
egotism. Anyway I added more mono column skylabs to this room (no more
after this room I don't wanna saturate it), also I used a modified
version of Abdan de Corcys skeleton. The skeleton is the guard
skeleton as adversed to the willy skeleton, I made slight graphical
tweaks to it but not enough to unwarrant recognition. The ramp is a
downwards escalator.

57: Downstairs Slightly?

Almost the same as the room above but all in dark blue. Not
particularly amazing but hey I don't really care.

58: Munty Muntersons basement

I redrew my 2 headed dog monster from "Still Stealin" for this room, I
also pinched Lee Tatlocks minger sprite from his room "Mingers Disco".
I found it apropriate since the room title mainly points towards the
insult MUNTER which in effect is the same thing as a minger. This room
is quite simple in appearance especially since the surrounding rooms
share the same block types, but only in different colours. The room
itself can be quite tricky but isn't what I would really call hard.

59: Pick it up if you're sure

An evil and very 1 way room if you pick the key up. I know clues in
the room title is somewhat frowned upon these days as it makes things
maybe too easy or maybe even seems patronising. But I put it there
because if you pick it up and you haven't got all the items before
this room you'll have to go round again. Of course this isn't
necessarily a bad thing, unless you actually have to come back to this
area, for maybe a few items. There is as most of my games have an
ideal route but it's not compulsory, just quicker. You can do the
whole Turret/sky castle bit first if you want and be safe in the
knowledge you don't have to go there again. But enough spoilers don't
pick the key up if you're not sure :) Oh and if you do pick the key up
you might want to keep moving to the right it's pretty much an IDS if
the spikes kill you, but as long as the spikes don't kill you and you
get the item in the next room you can redo the castle and go back to
the entrance instead of leaving this way.

60: Jump it's all you can do!

Well it is to an extent. This is the follow up to the equally shady
previous screen mentioned above. Due to the wall of spikes poor ol'
Willy has to hoy himself out of the window. There's a little
surprise in here but not much of a one.

61-67: Base Jumpin'

An extremely large falling scene, but don't worry it has a comedy
twist so you won't die at the bottom.

68: without a chute is silly!

The conclusion to the above screens

69: Ouch!

More cut scene action!

70: Come ere' I wanna word wiv you

Quite a funny screen in my opinion, you can't actually do anything
about it though. The floor is a conveyor and you can't jump, you just
have to sit back and watch poor old Willy walk towards the rather
large ugly man at the right end of the screen.

71: SMACK!

A blank screen. with a portal the screen flashes.

72: What the hell just happened?

"It Started with a CURRY!" (bathroom) with the toilet drawn out of
switches and all the exits intact. If you leave this room by any exit
then try to re-enter you'll just be taken back to "it started with a
CURRY!". Lets just say Willy has recieved a beating and wakes up in
the bog, not quite knowing what's happened.

73: Tripping about switches

This is one of 4 last minute additions to the room list. I wanted to
pad the map under the house out a little just to make the map slightly
more realistic however the under the house screens are still 2 short
for the map to be spot on. But I didn't want to add any more as the
ideas had run dry, and I didn't want to just add 2 random screens with
nothing to them. Anyway the room......It's a play on "Trip Switch"
from JSW 2. There's nothing to kill you in here and it's a one of
those rooms you have to work your way around just to leave. Lots of
switches and opening walls.

74: Threatened Priests Refuge

Kind of similar in appearence to "Rigor Mortis" from JSW2, however
that rooms effect was not what I wanted. There's a mild exploitation
of quirky features in this room, but nothing difficult in fact it's
pretty obvious what you have to do. I chose priests for this room just
so I could use the sprites since I left them in the table.

75: The Sacred Secret Sanctum

Columns and vertical guards, 2 horizontals on the bottom. Scrolls and
priests.

76: Golden Chamber Under Black Light

an Idea I've sort of had since I was making "Still Stealin'"
(A reference to the down and out trilogy again, I just can't
help myself). Basically I wanted to do an all yellow screen with all
black guards, so I did. I think the original idea for the colour scheme
came from "Fahrenheit 3000" but I'm not 100% sure now. This is the
final screen under the house before you emerge back outside. I
actually managed to resist the temptation of adding JSW2 rooms (or
variants/updates) to pad the actual mansion out. I wanted to but I've
done it too many times now, it's starting to get a little played out
now.

7: List of original/slightly altered rooms (previously unmentioned)

I've added this section mainly because the original version has been
nicely pulled apart by a few people, to mention one Daniel Gromman
who's examination of this games rooms was borderline a scientific
investigation with meticulous efficiency. So I thought I'd be
considerate to Daniel and everyone else who wanted a complete roomlist
for this game. I am doing it here for the benefit of players old and
new, but however there will never be any ammendments made to the
readme with the 48K original as I class the game and the readme as
complete. Also this section is a special 1-off for this game as I
class all my other games as remakes because they all contain at least
80% new material (Unlike most modern games today, especially 1 on 1
beat em' ups LOL).

1: The front door

Was completely untouched in the 48K version now the air has been
changed to black to fit in with the nightime type screens surrounding
the mansion (apart from the beach obviously that room must always be
daytime even if it is night or early on a winters morning as this
game is set). Added a moon sprite.

2: The Hall

The only change made in the 48K version was an extra fire block near
the lower left exit. I've added an extra earth block to make a ground
level floor, and changed the chanelier to bright yellow.

3: I'm sure I've seen this before..

No changes made at all in either version. But may be aesthetically
tweaked to be easier on the eye for the release. Just changed all the
blue in the blocks to black, the screen actually looks really good
just like this.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.

4: On the roof

The ramp and the fire blocks are now the same colour, no changes made
to the original layout.
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.

5: Ballroom East

No changes made in either version, may tweak for release.
UPDATE: colour changes, all bug byte heads changed to bright, barrel
flashes like in JSW 128.

6: Ballroom West

The leftmost guard was removed in the 48K version leaving the room to
be classed as slightly altered. I replaced it in the SE so it is now
unchanged from JSW 1. However aesthetic tweaks may be made.
UPDATE: I tweaked a lot, this room is now almost ugly. I changed all
the guards to black, changed Willy to light blue, changed the original
blocks colours, added several other blocks for graphical effect. This
room is now saturated but I kind of like it.

7: To the Kitchen	Main Stairway

No changes made from JSW 1 in the original 48K version however this
version contains the modified bollocks sprite from the bathroom,
contained in the 48K: SE that was scrapped to make way for this
version. I also once again changed the originals stickle brick like
earth block to the generic solid brick block with bright attributes.

8: The Desocrated Chapel

The room has only 3 changes for the SE, The scroll sprite is now back
where it belongs, the ramp is no longer an escalator, and the ramp has
been changed to bright red. Which means the room has only 4 changes
from JSW 1, Priest replaced by moonwalker, No devil sprite above ramp,
Red ramp, No escalator. So I think this room definitely belongs in
this section.

9: The sparsely furnished orangery

I never mentioned this as a new room as the principles remain the same,
save the right side of the screen being reasonably bare the room
remains too similar to be classed as new. However I'll stick an UPDATE
marker under this if I decide to tweak this room who knows it may even
make new room status by the time I finish this game, but for the time
being it stays like this.

10: Conservatory Roof

Only changes are that the attic bug is fixed and I removed an extra
fire block to make things easier. Nothing has changed since the 48K
version and apart from those 2 changes nothing is actually different
about this room from JSW 1. Even with aesthetic tweaking this room
will play exactly the same and no changes to the layout will be made.

11: Back Stairway

Absolutely no changes.

12: West Wing

I've reintroduced the scroll guard from JSW 1, which was removed in
the 48K versions. I've added an extra ramp, earth, and water block for
aesthetic purposes only. Even with the reintroduction of the guard and
the graphical tweaks. The only thing making this room any different is
still only the wall blocking the left exit. In fact in my opinion
with the reintroduction of the guard, the room becomes closer once
again to it's original form.

13: The drive

The drive hmmmm, I filled the hole in here because I don't like the
"Under the drive" and "tree root" screens and I needed them to make
more custom screens.
UPDATE 2005: No changes
UPDATE 2006: Added a moon sprite.
_______________________________________________________________________________

8: Deleted/Replaced rooms and Oddities

Rooms deleted or replaced in the 48K versions of this game.

1: Those bastards blew my boat up

This screen was removed for the special edition it was a crap variation
of a crap screen, so I'm not really worrying about it too much.

2: They can't hurt you now

This is "The toolshed" with the item, the nail and the pair of pliers
removed. also the saw and the penknife are under the floor and can't be
reached hence the title of this room. I just didn't want remove this
room and also was too lazy to redraw it. I replaced this room although
it's practically the same *see "who said they couldn't hurt you?" for
details.

Oddities:

The clock starts at 07:00am instead of 00:00am which is the actual
time the game is supposed to start, notice the original version starts
at 00:00am but the story says that the game starts at 07:00am.

The game cannot be saved as a .sna, the file will always reset the
speccy or corrupt. However it can be saved as a RIFF or a Z80 file.

This game took me approximately 30 times longer to make than the
original 48K version. If you take the actual timeline into account
it's taken me about 480 times longer to make hahaha!

The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!! is a nickname that was actually given to me, I
didn't just call myself it. It was given to me when I was about 19 or
20, due to my constant attempts to breakdance whilst extremely drunk,
sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't I got lots of bruises. Also I
was given the name because I used to practice martial arts.

In the story the bit about 37 Keema Vindaloos is not me playing on
stereotypes, the fella who owned my local curry shop was actually
called Abdul. I'd known him since I was about 7 and I was friends with
his younger brother in school, he sold up in 2003 I think. I was
pretty friendly with the next owner Mamoon, but he's sold up now and
bought an Indian restaurant in County Durham. I don't know the new
owners.

9: Legal stuff

This Version was made using just JSWED by John Elliot, and using
version V of the JSW 64 game engine. It's basically a touched up
version of the original with not too many drastic changes, I just
wanted to tidy up my first game since it only took me 3 days or so to
make. FREEWARE! don't sell it or I'll send the boogie man round to
bite your toes off.

and thanks to:

Matthew Smith for making the game in the first place.
Paul Rhodes whose editor I used to create the original version of
this game (but not his one).
John Elliot whose editor I used to create this version of the game.
John Elliot for JSW 64 all variants
John Elliot for mono column skylab (or droplets) patch vector.
Abdan de Corcy for his Skeleton sprite, which I modified slightly
(but the principles remain the same).
Lee Tatlock whos minger sprite I pinched.

Everybody who ever edited this game and gave me the inspiration to try
it myself. If I'd never gotten back on the net I may never have been
able to download all the JSW related goodies I have now
UPDATE: Even 4 years later I stick by this last statement it's
timeless (that's why I didn't date the UPDATE marker.

THIS IS FINALLY TWEAKED TO PERFECTION, IF YOU LIKE THE ROOMS OR
IDEAS FEEL FREE TO USE THEM OR IMPROVE THEM BUT NEVER ABUSE THEM.

So far so dodgy..................................................Laterz
